George W Mubea was first diagnosed was diagnosed with esophagus cancer in 2011. He was treated in Kenya and later moved to Punjab hospital and Hinduja hospital in Mumbai India. He underwent major surgery, 33 sessions of chemotherapy and 23 sessions of radiotherapy .He stayed in India for 5 months after which he went back to Kenya where he continued with check ups including endoscopy regularly. After some years he developed some problems due to the surgery as part of the had been removed and his stomach is around his chest.His struggle has been tedious and hectic since he has been in and out of hospital many times .He developed gastritis which has been a big bother thus depending on medication permanently. George after fighting esophagus cancer for 10yrs was again diagnosed with prostrate cancer in 2022 .It was very devastating seeing him going through the monster again. He underwent many tests in Kenya hospitals which turned positive. Owing to his advanced age the treatment that was proposed here in Kenya was brachytherapy and hormone injection for three months. This proved to be very expensive since his family was required to deposit 600k before the patient was admitted then pay the rest after three days. His family opted to take him back to India. In India the doctors suggested that he undergoes 34 sessions of radiotherapy and 3 sessions of hormone injection after every 3 months. He later came back to Kenya where he goes for regular checkups on his PSA LEVEL which seems to be normalizing. Due to his age and prolonged sessions of radio and chemotherapy, George is facing many health challenges. His long fight with esophagus and prostrate cancers has caused the family financial toxicity. His story is one of the most encouraging and inspiring to other patients. He is now living with his care givers his wife and daughter Wangechi in his rural home in Nakuru county about 3 hours 30 minutes drive from the capital city Nairobi.
